By Lyon County Sheriff Brad Pope
As Sheriff of Lyon County, I have the privilege of working with many community leaders who care deeply about the future of our county. I am proud to offer my full support and endorsement for Mark Jones for Lyon County Commissioner.
Mark Jones understands the challenges our communities face as Lyon County continues to grow. From infrastructure and public safety to development, Mark has consistently shown that he is committed to thoughtful, balanced leadership.
Throughout my time in law enforcement, I have seen how important it is for county leaders to support public safety and work collaboratively with first responders. Mark Jones values the work of our deputies, firefighters, and emergency personnel, and he recognizes that safe communities are the foundation of a strong county.
What stands out most about Mark is his willingness to listen to the people he serves. He approaches issues with common sense and a genuine desire to do what is right for Lyon County families.
Lyon County needs leaders who will plan responsibly for growth. I am confident that Mark Jones will bring the leadership, dedication, and accountability that our county deserves.
I strongly encourage the residents of Lyon County to support Mark Jones for County Commissioner.

When Mark Jones told me that he was running for political office I was thrilled. I wanted to make sure that I could help so I’m writing this note to tell you, the fortunate voter, why you would be so lucky to have Mark work for you in your community.
I’ve known Mark Jones for approximately 24 years and have had the privilege of seeing and experiencing Mark’s generosity from his heart and soul. The ironic thing is that he does it for nothing other than his commitment to helping others. Even prior to Mr. Jones’ business success he was giving to his community. I’d like to share with you just a few of the selfless acts he’s done for people. Please note these are people he didn’t even know until he saw a need that they had.
1) When I first met Mark, he was building his business, so money was very little, at times there was none, yet he found time to volunteer as an ambassador for the Shriners Hospitals. He found time to transport children to the hospital for needed care. He told me it was a gift just to see the kids’ progress. Giving his time was a blessing to these children in the community.
2) We were traveling for business, and a horrible flash flood came down from the mountains along with torrential rain. The roads were wiped out with no ability to pass. Mr. Jones pulled off the closed road and headed back to a very small town, one stoplight and one motel, for the night. He purchased the last room in town. There were many people in need of shelter. He noticed a single woman with an infant child without any place to stay and invited, actually insisted they stay in that room. Mark didn’t know them at all, yet he gave them shelter. This is due to Mark’s wonderful heart and passion for helping his community and caring for others.
3) His philanthropy has no boundaries. Whether or not he had the funds available, he always was there to assist abused and battered women in shelters. There were no thanks or gratitude needed for Mr. Jones, it was always to just help the people in need.
4) There is not enough ink to purchase for me to list the friends and family members he has helped, never expecting anything in return. Just knowing their needs and concerns were gone and at times at the sacrifice of himself. It was always about the people.
5) Mark is gifted with the retention of the “law”. I have witnessed Mark Jones assist a field workers’ family with legal advice after the death of their family member who was stung by a bee and passed away. Mark and his wife took money and food to assist the family in that most tragic time. Mark didn’t know this worker, but it didn’t matter he just wanted to help the family.
6) Mark becoming knighted was monumental. I didn’t understand the significance as a younger US citizen, being knighted had no importance to me. I spoke to the person that sponsored his knighthood and found out what character blessings are required for such an honor. Knights must be completely selfless and give time and treasure to helping others in need.
There are a million other incidents I could talk about regarding Mark character and generosity but there is not enough space.
Sometimes when folks meet Sir Mark Jones for the first time, his presence can be seen as harsh, (I laugh and call him mini-Trump) he is not. He is very passionate regarding what is right or wrong. Although I believe his feelings are a major part of what he does in life, he will never let those feelings alter a choice or decision he needs to make for the greater good, for you, his community.
This will be the best vote you can make for you and the Lyon County community.
Vote YES for Mark Jones!
